Over time even well-made features may need surface repair, filling of damage, structural correction, recreation of colour or adaptation to new conditions of use. At amusement parks, hotels, water parks and public spaces, intensive use and constant exposure to the weather add to the challenge.
We start every project by assessing the existing condition. We check the type of structure, substrate, materials used, the nature of the damage and whether the work can be carried out safely.
Our aim is not simply to mask the problem. Where possible we try to remove the cause of the damage, recreate the right surface texture and restore the visual coherence of the whole feature.
Restoration can also be an opportunity to upgrade an existing space: changing the colour scheme, adding new textures or special effects, or extending an earlier project.

Themed environments don't end on opening day
Artificial rockwork, sculptures, themed façades, water features and visitor areas are exposed to weather, water, UV, frost, cleaning, vibration, animals, children, thousands of visitors and years of daily use.
Even well-executed work needs inspection and maintenance. Poorly executed work needs repair much sooner.

More than a cosmetic fix
A repair should not simply hide the problem for a few months.

Respect for the original design
Not every repair should look brand new.
Often the best repair is the one you cannot see. We match texture, colour, ageing, staining, shadows, mineral traces and natural surface variation so the repaired area belongs to its original setting.

Technical note
Some structural issues may require assessment by a qualified engineer, especially where public safety, heavy loads, large structures or building regulations are involved.
We work with engineers, architects, contractors and facility management teams, bringing artistic, material and themed-construction expertise to the repair process.

Technology and execution
We choose the restoration technology only after analysing the existing feature. First we identify the substrate, the structure, the materials used previously and the cause of the damage.
Not every surface can be repaired with the same system. Cementitious elements need a different approach from lightweight structures based on EPS/XPS, composites, steel elements or surfaces permanently exposed to water.
Damaged or unstable sections are properly prepared before new layers are applied. Depending on the situation the work may include cleaning, removal of weak material, substrate repair, local strengthening, remodelling and rebuilding of the structure.
Visually blending the repair with the existing work is especially important. After the technical work we therefore recreate the texture, colour, patina and character of the original surface.
If the original technology proved inadequate, we can propose a different solution for the repaired section, provided it is compatible with the existing structure.
On larger features we can split the restoration into phases to limit the impact of the work on the operation of the venue.
If the repair reveals a problem that requires a structural engineer, a services designer or another specialist, the scope of that work is agreed with the client before we continue.

You do not always have to build from scratch.

We will assess whether it can be repaired, recreated or upgraded and propose a possible scope of work. We can also take over the restoration of elements previously built by another contractor.
